Launched from Dana Landing in Mission Bay 7AM. No wind to speak of and a marine layer which would burn off by 11. Picked up some frozen squid from the store next to the ramp. I skipped the bait barge ($20 bucks is rarely worth it to me.) Water temp was 61degrees. Too damn cold. Is it August or October for crying out loud?!

It was a nice ride north to the kelp. Calm water with occasional big, slow rollers . Perfect for getting a little air.

Caught some large macks that were too big for bait but I trolled one around for a while, just in case. Then resorted to strips of squid on a dropper loop. Landed a sheepshead (no photo) and a few bass. Kept the larger calico. Made good tacos for dinner.

Joe rode to the Coronados in 12ft swells. I don't think a little tournament is going to frighten him.

Mike you are right Joe is not afraid of anything BUT! If HS,mike, hobie, me beats him in the tournament for sure he goes crazy

I love competition, just like an albacore loooves anchovies.
I am going to have my neighbor with me for the tournament too.
He is really looking forward to it also.
I took him fishing a couple of times and now he is an adict.
He eats, sleeps and breathes fishing. Its kinda funny
