jumped on the Freedom on Saturday night because a few friends bailed on me to fish on Sunday. Decided to do a solo mission on the Freedom because they had caught lings and big sheepheads the previous trip. word from the landing is that our trip is heading to SCI. got to the boat and talked to the captain and he said we're going to SBI (Santa Barbara Island) instead because SCI (San Clemente Island) is full of boats from San Diego. We dropped anchor at around 3:30am and the ride up there was SMOOOOTH! Fished all morning until about 10:00am for seabass but not even a bite. one of the deckhands landed a 25lb seabass..

so we went out to do some rockfish and my god these fish are BIG! sat on the spot for a good hour or 2 and the biggest ling was pushing 25lb!!! sheephead was averaging 20lb!! sculpin was averaging 2lb+!! all rockfish except the sheepheads wanted sardines. lost a lot of sinkers because of the reefs and rocks in the area. did one more try at the seabass and it was a no go. Option and Toronado was also in the area. the ride back home was surprisingly FLAT CALM at the way! not even any swell or waves to speak of whatsoever. i'll post some pictures of the fish quality later tonight.
here's a sample of the sheepheads. this guy was on the Toronado..
