It had a down turned port,but we removed it.

Did you remove the stock rubber exhuast tip? it kinda turns down... so the maybe that helps prevent current from drifting to backflow?

Anyway... if you had the stock turndown exh tip.. and it still backflow'd... I might have to take your advice and block mine too... :(

yep we removed it,made our own flapper.

What about the exhaust flaps they use on the inboard boats. Maybe someone can make an adapter.

i have a 2006 yama fxho, ive heard that if i get towed over 5 mph i will flood engine. is this true?, if so what if i install a ball valve inline of intake, and close valve if i ever need to be towed in.

Yep. That's exactly what a lot of riders do.

I was reading this and considering I have had a no start issue recently with 2010 STX-15f I had a question. My exhaust is on the starboard side instead port (like I see in pictures of others exhaust). Has kawasaki re-routed the exhaust to help prevent this water from getting into engine? Also, it comes out of the waterbox on the port side and goes up about 12 inches to right underneath the grab handle on the back of the seat then back down and along the starboard side and out. Will this hump in the exhaust keep water from coming in? I think the water line would have to be above that hump in order to get into the engine?
