I have heard of a couple of guys out at the Oriskany on jetskis when the carrier was sunk 25 miles of the Florida Gulf Coast. There were many boats out there and the gulf was pretty calm then. But I wouldn't venture out more than a couple of miles offshore. That's just me!

Depending on where you are, research some sea towing companies. It's well worth the price! In case you get stuck, just call on the cellphone or radio for help.

Like any boat on the vast ocean, things can go wrong. You must prepare.

There are many discussions on this site about proper preparation so i won't rehash them. But, there are 4 rules that I always follow:
1. Never ride alone.
2. Maintain your PWC.
3. BoatUS.com
4.Never ride alone.

For me, the challenge of enjoying God's creation and returning safely and harvesting is worth the effort.

I think never riding alone is far more important than anything else.
