Catalina run, 9/24/11

Postby HawaiianShorts » Mon Sep 19, 2011 11:29 am

Hey guys, weather looks good this weekend. Let's go to Catalina! Plan is to meet at Davies in Long Beach at 0630, launch at 0700. We should get there before 0800. We'll be going to the west end just around the corner to fish the kelp and squid grounds. We should be leaving Catalina at noon to make it back home by 1300. Hopefully the weather cooperates this time so we can actually go out. :P

Any takers?

My schedule says no for 9/24; I will be fishing Laguna area again on 10/1 if anyone wants to join.

If you go out of Dana Point 9/24, go north. South is still full of red tide and off-colored water. North is starting to clear better and should have several fishable areas.

As far as Giant Squid fishing I will pass....I hate those things and wish they would leave. They are hard on our fishing grounds because they eat everything except sharks. If I go squid fishing, my bait would be C4 so that I get a few million of those critters on every cast.

I can't go, no truck right now. My baby is in the shop!!!
If fishing was easy, they'd call it catching!!

damn.. got work this weekend so no fishing. those giant squids are very bad for our fishery. don't know why people would eat those.. it's like chewing rubber! kind of crazy too when i hear stories of people bringing their tuna gear, ie: 2 speeds, to catch these things!
