I had the coolermate last. It didn't fit quite well on my yamaha fx. Had to modify it a bit. Lasted 1 season on pacific waters before the welds came off. I'm using a custom aluminum rack now that is made specifically for my ski for about the same price.

Our sport is at a stage where you have an option of purchasing a turn-key fishing watercraft. Here is a picture of a turn-key fishing watercraft designed by Jet Angler and built by Huntington Beach Honda featured at the L.A. Boat Show. Some of you may have seen it at the Fred Hall Show in Long Beach. Clearly its not for everyone; what the hell would do in your garage if your watercraft came rigged? If you do not want to mess with building your own rig through trial and error, you may consider a turn key HB Honda watercraft.

This watercraft has a GPS/Fishfinder ran to a second independant oddessy battery. The bait tank is an adapted Igloo marine insulated cooler that is narrow enough re-enter your watercraft after a dip in the water. The bait tank frame is made of powder coated aluminum with stainless turn buckles. The turn buckles are fixed to U-bolted that are drilled into, I repeat, drilled into the deck. Once again this turn key watercraft is only for the committed Jet Angler who places a premium on durability. Aftermarket racks that "fits most brands" will come unglued and you will lose your gear. If you fish from a watercraft you do not use cheap rods and reels, so why would you want to save a few pennies on the place you mount your rods to.

Here is a link to how I installed my rack: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Jet-Ski-Fishing/220503171557?v=photos&ref=ts#!/album.php?aid=176190&id=220503171557

Here is a picture that shows how the spread looks: Image

Most of you spend $10,000 on a watercraft and severl $100 bucks on your rods and reels... So why try to make a rack in your garage for $50 out of PVC? Im just saying.

Check out Jet Ski Fishing on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/pages/Jet-Ski-Fishing/220503171557?v=photos&ref=ts#!/pages/Jet-Ski-Fishing/220503171557?v=wall&ref=ts,there is a ton of great information, then come back to http://www.jetskisportfishing.com to blog about it.

PM me if you would like more detailed pictures of the HB/Jet Angler Ski. It is a Southern California tested solution. All do-it-yourselfers are welcome to check it out. If you are a turn-key-guy this is a great place to start.

That's a very nice rig. So cool that HB honda will outfit a turn-key fishing ski. Hope others will follow. I may have a Yammy ski but I'm a honda fan as well for their reliability (CRF450R, CRF150R 600rr and 1000rr).

Hey Gang, when you build your racks be mindful that you go fast on your watercraft. You will fall off of it. Whatever you do make sure you can get back on it. Do yourself a favor, go into deep water and jump off of your watercraft. Climb back on it. See for yourself how you do it and then plan accordingly. If you are a big guy, you reall need to go through this exercise before you mount a barrier to how you may remount your watercraft. Food for thought.

I am about to embark on this project as well. I am retired and have nothing but time to play in the garage. Will be incorporating scuba tank rack as well.
