Dana Point tomorrow 09/20/11

Postby socali714 » Mon Sep 19, 2011 9:39 am

I will be heading out of Dana Point tomorrow arriving about 6-6:30a if anyone is interested. Does anyone know if they still have live bait available?

You guys that can fish during the week really irritate me. In the pre-recession days I used to take a lot of Mondays off when I had a boat. Those days seem like forever ago.

Live bait is year around at Dana Point; they had small chovies on Saturday.

Go north of the harbor to the Laguna area. You need to go about 3-4 miles at least to get away from the red tide. I hear that south is a mess and in front of the point it looked like red mud on Saturday.

There were Cudas biting against the kelp at Salt Creek area but a lot of red tide there too.

Good luck.

I use to get weekends off, but they recently changed my schedule to work on weekends and get Mon. & Tues. off. Red tide does not sound good at all. Pretty bad fishing when red tide is around. I hope it clears up by tomorrow. Achovies are ok but I prefer sardines or small makerel's. I will buy a half scoop though just to make sure I have bait. I will probably bring some squid with me also.

I read a report a little while ago, it might have been yours about the thresher shark. If it was your post what area did you hook the thresher?
