Hi Guys,
Wanted to get your thoughts on what Fishfinders & GPS that really work well on your ski's. I had a Garmin 400c and Mallegan Costal but just sold it with my kayak this past week. Loved the screen and features on the 400c and Coastal GPS was good for the price. Probably should of set my FF up on a dual cone instead of single beam but without question one of the best screens I have seen for the price. Now I have a dilema on what to purchase. I am a tad pissed because last Christmas the Raymarine 60a had a $200 rebate which brought the unit down to a price of $550. Now I am thinking about getting a combo unit like the Garmin 440, Raymarine A65 or the Hummingbird 500 series or 400 series combo unit. Any thoughts on these? I am also going to purchase a handheld Garmin 76cxs and would like to get a new one for around $200. Anybody have any leads on getting a unit at this price.

Where are you planning to mount the units? For the fishfinder, are you mounting the transducer in-hull or outside? I liked the humminbird a lot on my kayak because of the big screen.. but it's just too bulky to mount on a jetski. That is why I'm using a Garmin 400c 500w dual beam ff and a Garmin Colorado gps now. It's been working fine and I haven't had any problems with it yet.

Garmin 400c is a nice unit but for about the same size I can get the 440s which has the internal antena and GPS built in. Haven't figured out where I will install but at this point I have a little bit of time before getting my ride. In the process of getting equipment so the big splash won't be so bad or as hard to explain to the wife. I'm sure you married one's get this.
As far as the transducer, which option should I go with? Thanks, for all that have answer and I appreciate the websites for sales.

Look inside your jetski for any flat area.. this area should be as parallel to the floor as possible. If there is room, mounting the transducer inside would be a safer choice. Look in the Garage section for a how-to tutorial on installing a fishfinder.
