I agree that it looks high. But I think if you extend it down to were it needs to be. It will be a long run down and the water will bend it up or back causing issues. Just my .02 They sale a glue on stern block that you can screw into with out penetrating the hull. And can be removed later if you don't like it.

That's a pretty good piece, if you don't have the means of making it yourself.

I agree too. The block looks good but don't you need to at least drill a hole for a wire tie down? Maybe the wire tie down can be glued using epoxy.

this is a great find!! for $60 + tax/shipping, it takes the guess work out of finding a platform to mount on and possibly drilling a hole. and they custom size it!

tony:

if you can extend a rod down to where you originally want to mount the transducer, just zip tie the cable to it and run it through the bottom of the backseat. this is how mine is setup. the transducer is completely detachable. everything except the transducer is held down with zip ties.

How do you go about getting this installed? I wanted one but store clerk said I'd prolly need a technician to install it custom on a ski. Is there a certain type to look for that I could do it myself? (I have a 2009 yamaha SHO)

just curious have you actually rode out off shore in this ?
lol it looks like a good set up for the bay and all but for off shore think youll need a strap holding it down from bouncing up and down. most the times riding out your still gonna be bouncing and on the way in its worse if you have fish, cause there will be more weight.

just my .02 on it cause no one told me.... lol

i ride 25 miles straight out to the ocean on occasion and my setup is only held down by 2 turn-buckles. it's really dependent on the design of the rack. but i agree with jlai on garylandgraf's design. it looks like it can move on a rough day.

here's a tip: make sure everything is strapped and screwed TIGHT. You'd be surprised just how much damage can be done with very tiny vibration.
