For now I have a separate jet ski battery in my storage compartment powering my fish finder.

For now I wrapped it in a few beach towels.... GHETTO but it works. I just pile all my crap on top of it to keep it from moving.

I have a FX-140 and I put an 8 Ah Gell Cell in the front storage compartment. Its stays dry in there so I didn't worry about putting it in a water tight box. I cut a couple slots in the storage compartments floor with a dremel tool and looped a velcro strap through it and around the battery to keep it secure. I could take a picture if you like.

Did you seal around the areas you put cuts into? I use my ski for the river and lakes too. the front compartment is for tow ropes, bumpers, anchor and my Sam's club cooler bag of beer...... Sometimes water gets into it...

I have never seen water get into the front yet... That's why I was not worried. But I don't do crazy stuff either, although I've been out on some rough water with it coming over the bow a couple times. And no I didn't seal around my slots, no reason, there is a drain hole in there anyway...
