Heading to Rock Point Mexcio!!

Postby Nathan Z. » Thu Oct 13, 2011 7:57 am

Salt water fishing here I come. This will be the first time my jet skis see salt water. I have everything ready to go; four different poles rigged, net, gaff, rack, cooler, fish finder, go pro and my buddy who's looking forward to this as much as I am. We're not going very far off shore due to we need to get our feet wet before doing the 12 and 20 mile trips. Fish of choice, grouper. Trigger, sea bass, flounder and covina are all very common as well. When I get back I'll post pictures and hopefully figure out how to do a video as well (with a grouper).

Well the first trip was a success. My buddy and I were there for three days but only got out on the skis to fish yesterday. The weather was perfect, no wind dead calm seas. We went about a mile and a half straight out in front of our house and landed on nice schols of triggers and rock bass. I had several double hook up with both triggers and rock bass. The fish finder was working perfectly with the best picture showing my line landing in front of a fish sitting on the bottom and with in 10 seconds he took the bait. What a blast! All in all we caught around 30 fish between the two of us in about three hours of fishing. I can't wait to get back out again.
I picked up a go pro off of craigslist and took some video so when I get them downloaded and figure out how to post I'll get them on here. I wasn't smart enough to get pictures due to...
I had a pleasant suprise when I returned back home to find my wife sitting on a sandbar next to her beached FX. She was out with our daughter when they saw a huge flock of seagulls. She wanted to make them fly so she was trying to get close to them and bam! Hit the sand bar. The tide in Rocky Point goes in and out so fast it's scary and with in 5 minutes the whole ski was just siting there on top of the sand bar. We got the ski into the water and drove it away with no issues.

Yeah she's fine. The life vest helped cusion the blow so just her pride is bruised. My daughter thought it was funny and that I was gonna kill her but I asked the same thing; everyone ok? Then I got to work getting it off the bar.
