Ideas on Bimini/Shade?

Postby W8kski » Tue Aug 16, 2011 7:33 pm

Anyone have any pics of what they use out on the water for shade on a hot day. been thinking of rigging up some type of bimini that's easily removable.

if you want something simple and easy, strap a PVC pile to the backseat handle bars pointing straight up. you can just place the umbrella into the PVC and you'd have shade in the backseat. if not, make a rack to hold a cooler and put the umbrella in one of the rod holders.

btw, i think someone had a setup with an umbrella for freshwater fishing. i'll see if i can find the post.

Umbrella and/or a big ass hat (Gaudamalan palm leaf hat with 8" bream), yes the hat wont stay on at speed but its a life saver while your trolling or stationary.

I saw beach umbrellas for $20 at Sams club. They opened up to 5 or 6 foot and I was thinking about pulling out the rear towing pylon and sticking it in the tube for that. Here's a mockup. Obviously I wouldn't get a rainbow umbrella but that's all I could find a picture of online.

I've seen one of these while I was fishing. Unfortunantly I couldn't get close to them but it looked pretty cool. Looks like one for the FX is around $380.

I like the Bimini top.
It would pose a couple problems for me.
First, i wouldt be able to ride like i usually do, because i would be para sailing. (i like to ride fast)
second, i wouldnt be able to cast

and finally, i wouldnt be able to get a tan.

if slow trolling or just cruising, i think it looks good, and will definitely do its job
