Just paid $275 for something I don't want to use.

Picked up an ACR ResQLink. Figured since I mainly fish solo (I know bad idea) that It wouldn't hurt to have this for a last ditch effort. I also have a VHS and a membership with Sea Tow. Kinda weird paying for something that you don't ever want to use. Anybody ever use one, or carry one for safety.

I plan on getting one of these

not exactly the same but I think it will cover a few bases for me when attached to my vest. $275 is cheap when your floating out in open ocean and need help.

I used to have sea tow.. It's about $130/yr. it's pretty important to have a backup plan if you're flying solo. A few hundred a year is worth it.

Yeah I agree with both of ya'll, not a bad price for a back up plan. Its just weird normally I buy something take it home and test it out (play with it). With this I get home open it up and register it online. Then I realize thats it keep it on my pfd and hope I never have to use it. :? Just weird but I do feel a little better about knowing I have it.

Never want to use it, but the one time you need it and dont have it, there is a problem.
You will be glad you have it that one time you need it.

Man i agree 100% . i hope i spend this money every year and never have to use it. I have sea tow and a VFH radio. I hope i just pay the rate and replace batteries and never have to use it either. i fish solo exclusively around the Tampa Bay but i am gonna wonder out into the Gulf this spring when the King mackeral start running. So have a back up plan for a back up plan is always a good idea.

You can try to swim :). But seriously, try to find at least another guy to go with.

I've been trying, even posted signs in local bait shops and at B&S marine (a local PWC only service shop). Hoping to draw interest but no calls yet. There was one member on here that use to fish out of this area. But I think he's long gone. I pm'ed him a while back and never heard from him. So until I get lucky and see a nub sign up from my area I'll just have to be extra careful. Thats why I take all the precautions I do. But I agree I would feel allot better with a fishing buddy.

Im in the same situation here. Just extra cautious and i leave a float plan with one of my buddies when i go out. It definitely would be nice to have some other people in the area to go out with but i've posted and no responses. The fishing must go on!

My buddy and I are gonna start this year on the Carolina coast. We will be leaving out of topsail marina. Probably go atleast 10-20 trips. The drive kills us(4 hours to the beach) but we have a VHF/ 2 gps (3 counting the phone) and flare gun, hopefully a acr before our first trip. Anyone from nc were down to go. Looks like we have about 40 wrecks to hit.

(not to hitch your thread, just didn't know where you were from shamrock)
