If anybody wants to try riding to Catalina without quite as much risk, I recommend the "Catalina Fun Run" sponsored by North County Yamaha in San Marcos, CA. 40 to 50 riders caravan across the channel from Dana Point and spend the weekend on the island. Full rider support, including towing, is provided for minimal cost-about $60. I think it's scheduled for the middle of July.

We've enjoyed the trip every year for the last 7.

OK. But rather than post the phone number, just google and call North County Yamaha in San Marcos and ask about it.

If you are going for sure, then you need to book a room in Avalon. They tend to sell out in the summer, although, in this economy....

It would be great to have a few fishermen out there?
