The rack is very basic. I would start with buying a cooler first. Ten you'd want to measure out the cooler and build a rack for it. If you want to add rod holders, look at the ones made by Scotty's, or you can just cut a 1" PVC and mount it to the side. I zip-tie my rod holders and it's been working pretty good. Just replace them if they are broken.

I'd definitely check out the garage for some ideas and better visual of what a rack could look like. The good thing about using PVC is that it doesn't require a lot of tools. Good luck!

I just finished one with light 1" and if there is one suggestion, I'd suggest heavy wall schedule 40.
I'm fixing to rebuild mine.

I bought a Pwc cooler mate off of eBay for $170. I put some pole holders on it and it is ready to go. Looks good too. I tested it out yesterday. Worked like a champ I would only suggest using a bungie to hold the lid down.

Can a pvc cooler rack hold up for the long run?

Material wise, yes. It really depends on the ride condition and how well was it assembled. If you plan on doing a long of jumps or the area you'll be going is general rough waters, PVC might not hold up for long.
