So I've been reading the reports with tons of squid...is that at all local waters? Does that mean fishing is no good? I was planning on trying to go out of Dana on Tuesday, but if no fish is around I might just save a trip. Also, are the squid good to eat? I caught some a few years ago but it tasted horrible. Way too rubbery and salty. I'm thinking it might have been because we caught the squid early in the day and they were in the sun/sacks all day and maybe it spoiled? I tried many ways of try to cook it from : grilling, frying, and boiling but all the same outcome. Way too salty.

the squid is very close to shore. it's being caught along our coast line from San Diego up to Long Beach. when the giant squid is around, you'd really have to find a place holding fish, most likely in the kelp. a friend of mine just dropped of a 5lb squid over the weekend and it was CHEWY! i think the meat is just too thick.. :P
