Thought this forum was aching for a report so I thought I would post one up from last weekend, not from the jet ski, but thought yall might enjoy it anyways. Had to winterize the jet ski this weekend and the weather here is cold and rainy so no fishing this weekend anyhow. One of my good friends from Michigan made an out of the way stop by the house for a couple days on his way to the keys. Hes a huge fly fisherman so I wanted to get him on some albies or bull reds with the fly rod since he hasnt had the chance to do so. Despite the forecast we headed out of Rocky Bayou with my good friend Mike and decided to check out the gulf. Wasnt 5-7 like they called the night before, waves were around 3' so we cruised the shoreline for some albies. Had a slow start, but found one of the biggest schools I have seen busting the water with plenty of birds to give them away. They were on a scumline about 1/2 mile east of the Okaloosa Island Pier. We posted up on the school and all three of us had a triple hook up, I lost mine at the boat side and we landed the other two. Hooked up a few more and the school broke up and we lost them. We only had one flyrod on the boat so Gabe got his first on the fly, Mike and I were using light spin gear for the fun of it.

Gabes first Alby on the fly, he wasnt expecting to run into cold weather, so he had to borrow some warmer clothes.

After chasing the albies around without further success we decided to head over to the east of the pass and look for some more fish. Did not see anymore fish so I suggested we head over to the Miss Louise and see if there were any flounder holding still. I kept one Alby for cut bait and that is all we had in the way of bait. Sure enough we were catching fish right away. First fish was a nice upper slot redfish.

Proceeded to catch flounder, ARS, catfish, and one shark until we had to leave. Ended up with 10 flatties, two Albies, and one redfish. Was a great day fishing with friends although very cold!
