MLK Day fishing!

Alanhihand and 2 others will be joining me this coming Monday for a sanddab trip. Trip details below if you are interested.

Date: 1/16/12
Time: 0730
Location: meet at Davies Launch Ramp (Long Beach)
Target: Sanddab
Bait: strips of squid
RIgging: 2 hooks minimum with 1 4oz weight and 1 1oz weight. you can buy "sanddab rigs" with 10 hooks at your local fishing store. i think it's about $8.
Technique: bring your bottom fishing rods. tie 2 swivels at the 2 ends of your leader, with the hooks spread about 10" apart. clip the lighter weight at the top of the leader and the other at the end. This will allow all the hooks to lay flat on the bottom versus standard dropper loop where only 1 hook is a the bottom. sanddabs are very hungry fish so they'll bite if you're at the right spot. be patience and wait after the first bite because chances are, their friends will bite too!

Here's a quick look:

I will try to make it if I survive a systems upgrade that starts at Friday 5:30 pm til Saturday 9 am. I will catch up with sleep first.

HS, you have to show me how to tie them up in person.

Have FUN guys. It is a regular busy work day for me; no fishing!

Make sure to monitor the weather. NOAA and fishweather show a very nice fishable day. Swell watch has Monday as being very UN-fishable. Somebody is wrong here.
