new to jet ski fishing

Found a gps for $200 instead of $400? Does Sport Chalet have a sale? Want to share a coupon? Post it here!

How would you mount the trolling motor to the ski, via the rear rack or to the ski itself?
cheers

I have played with lots of trolling motor ideas and I totally concur with Hawaiianshorts that you need a dedicated battery. I would also recommend something better than a regular ski battery. A ski battery has 25 minutes of reserve at best which means a small trolling motor will last an hour or two at best. That is just not enough battery especially if you only have the ski battery. I would recommend a battery similar to an Odyssey PC925. This will give you more than twice as much reserve time which is needed for trolling. You could try using a regular ski battery in the front storage box but that will require a long run of some 8 gauge wire.

Aren't you charging the battery while trolling?

No. He uses a seperate trolling motor. Not the ski motor.

Where have you guys been all my life? I am glad to have found this site and this post. I have two patents on a system that lets you mount a trolling motor on your ski without complicated gear on the back. I used a small deep cycle battery and the smallest motor i could find and it lasted at full throttle for about 2 hours. It is still in prototype phase but it worked great. I am a fresh water bass fisherman so I have not tested it on big water. I have a 2003 Kawasaki stx15. i moved the fire extinguisher up front and put the trolling motor battery under the seat. The motor itself mounts to the side of the ski so the back is more clear for fishing or other equipment.

I hope this thread keeps going. This group may be exactly what I need to get the prototype done !
