on to the report...
i dont even know where to start, i had a blast so did my dad and friend....
left the boat ramp about 7:30am, got to the rig around 7:45, my friends first cast with a ribbon fish not even a second, bam fish on. first king of the day and it was a good one. 44" it was his first king ever. !!

after that i tied up to the rig and through out a ribbon fish and let that sit for a little bit, used my other rod and was throwing a silver spoon. immediately started catching smacks. caught one good size one and then casted again... then wham something its it and starts taking off.... fight it for a little bit then everything went limp. busted my leader.... oh well... at this point i decided to tie the rat l trap i had prepared the night before.... this is it after 3 smacks...

after i caught 3 smacks, i get a good run on my ribbon fish.. just kept going and going when i tighted the clicker and set the hook it was on for a few seconds.... then the line popped ! :horse: there was a flat bottom boat that could hear my reel scream !!!
after it broke i was kinda of in a pickle. that was my only ribbon fish rig i had bought. so had to use 42# wire leader and some single hooks to try...
well it worked for a little bit... got another short run after that and popped...
whew it was exciting.

i tried some more ribbon fish but with out the longer ribbon fish set up, this is what happened most the times

then the bite for smacks and kings completely shut off.... and it was on for angel fish ( spade fish ), there were tons and tons of them. we caught half a cooler of a 54qt cooler full of them. we love eat n em. so yummy. we did that for about 2 hrs and while were doin this we see some people from tkf,

as things were slowing down it was getting hot... where i had tied up, perfectly lined me up for the rigs shade... but my friend had to improvise,

he was hand lining for some fish and some big ol shark bigger than his jet ski almost flipped him. he lost the shark due to a straight hook !!! :horse:
things are definetly slowing down and i tell them lets move to a different rig... after that my friend hooks up quick 2nd king for the day.

we had no where to put these kings, didnt fit in the cooler and didnt want to let them go... so we had to improvise....

then we packed up and hit the 6 mile rig. immediately found fish, hooks smacks and kings on the rat l trap... this was my very first king ever !!

after that were still catching smacks here and there and then i catch another king again... but we have no room and just knock it dead silly.

my jet ski sinking from all the damn fish in the cooler

my dad and i

my friends rig

after my second king, a school of big shark come in, some were big or biger than the jet ski... and my friends could not help but try to catch one..... and well he did.

after he hooked up was nearly getting spooled. so i had to cut him from the anchor and let him drift to the fish.... wow. think of about that sleigh ride !!
after he hooked up, and there was no more room for fish, decided to head in and just help him with his shark.
this was taken near the 6 mile rig

fish started to run and took us to closer to the 4 mile rig.. where the water changed a little

so after the fight he landed it and all he could think of was taking a picture on an unstable jet ski of a live shark, in shark infested waters, with about 2 ft swells hitting us....

and we head in, on the way in my rack completely shattered cause of all the weight of the fish.... so it was a long ride in....
finally got to the ramp and unloaded... heres a few pics of the sharks.

head back to his house and count the fish.... 12 smacks and 5 kings.
the big king was cut because it was the first king we caught... and it didnt fit in the cooler so yeah...

biggest smack was 28 1/2" most were around 27. all over 20 easily. a great day... amazingly fun to catch my kings on a ratltrap.
great day and cant wait to get back out with just the ratltrap. !!
