Took an offshore trip targeting kingfish out of Freeport, Tx. The water was pretty nice 3 footers but they were pretty slow so the ride was smooth. We were travel at around 30-35 mph to a rig about 15 miles out. We trolled Russel lures and dead ribbon fish limiting out in about an hour of fishing, then we decided to catch and release another 4 kings before heading back in.

If you go a little south and put in at Sargent deep water is much closer and a lot less boat traffic.

Thats a tad bit far for me coming from Houston and plus I enjoy the ride out to the fishing spots
