So I received my radio in the mail today...Do I need to know any specifics on how to use? Thinking of a bad situation, which I hope never happens, but what would I do if I can't start up on waters? I have no gps/navigation/coordinates devices so if I needed help, how would I get help?

Note: I know what to get for my next investment, but for now what to do in this situation?

if you're close enough to get cell phone reception, you can call the coast guard and they can triangulate your approximate location. other than that, you'd have to describe your location with landmarks and approximate your whereabouts. but definitely invest in a GPS or GPS/Fishfinder combo if you fish alone often.
