Refueling on the go

Postby tailspin808 » Tue Feb 07, 2012 12:27 am

Sorry if this has already been covered, but I see a few people carry gas cans with them. I was wondering how hard it is to refuel when your out fishing in less than glassy conditions. My Yamaha fuel neck is located low and towards the front of the ski and it looks like it would be hard to actually refuel without getting a good amount of water getting in while your difting along. Has anybody with a Yamaha VX1100 actualy refueled out in open water and if so, did water get in the tank? How difficult was it to do?

It's a little hard to refuel if there are wind chop or white cap. Otherwise, piece of cake!

i have a SeaDoo.. the fuel cap is near the top so it's a bit easier for me. however, water can still get in less than calm conditions.

Get a 2 gallon size container. Maybe another jet ski align next to your jet ski so you can have a better footing :)

I like the way JetskiBrian did his latest ski. But its an SUV with tons of room. He has it plumbed with a small fuel pump so at the flick of a switch it transfers right into main tank. When your headed out on short trip hose retracts and remove tank. Standard boat tank you can buy at any marine store.
