Sea Doo GTX 155 '11 or Yamaha FX HO '11

Postby Coast2Coast » Mon Sep 05, 2011 11:54 am

Hey Folks,

I've been doing a lot of research, but not able to try out diferent skis and going to be pulling the trigger soon and just need a little more info- For my needs I've got it down to '11 FX HO or Sea Doo GTX 155.

Which one handles better in big water and is generally more stable?

Thanks in advance!!!

I'm not sure which one is better but I got a Yamaha FX SHO. It's very stable and easy to do maintenance. If you let me choose I'd choose Yamaha FX HO '11.

Thanks Alan, that's good to know. Does your machine seem to cut through big stuff well? Also, does it shed water away pretty good rather than kicking it back into your face?

Your welcome. Yes my machine cuts through stuff well. It does shed pretty good but even if you have a boat or a jetski water still sometimes splash at your face. If you use jetski for fishing I think Yamaha is good to use.

I vote for the seadoo. It's got a nice deck in the back and it sounds better! Gtx should be getting around 80-100 miles so you're good with either one. It comes down to price and looks.

Good luck!

Both are good skis in my opinion; it comes down to personal preference.

I would choose the Yamaha mostly based on the aftermarket availability of converting this ski into a fishing machine. It turns into a fishing machine better than most.

If you are looking for the best ski for a dry ride and handling in big water my choice would be the Kawasaki Ultra 300. I personally would not buy this for a fishing ski but the Kawasaki is the ultimate ride right now in my opinion.

both seem great to me. im having a hard choice on my next ski for fishing too. id pick which ever one you can get parts for easier. i live right next to a yamaha so the next ski might be a fx ho. but i really like sea doo's look. so its really which one would you rather have ? in my opinion sea doo looks and sounds better than the yammy. plus the technology behind sea doo seems to be better. but yammy looks like an awesome platform for fishing. so in the long run which one would you rather have ?

Actually, the F15 is probably the best ride out there for the price. The F15 hull is phenomenal; the problem is that Honda can't make up their mind if they want to build more skis or not so I wouldn't drop 10k on one of their skis right now. If someone tempted me with a good used F15 for 5-6k I would pay cash on the spot.

Hondas are still the most reliable and fuel efficient skis in the pack.
