Side mount vs. Flush mount, rack mounted

Postby Zapekim » Mon May 23, 2011 1:20 am

Been looking at the options for rod holders and it looks like the vast majority of folks use the cooler rack mounted rod holders. Was wondering if that's because of the limited options or something else. Having fished from a kayak, I started with the milk crate/cooler setup first then I opted for mounting the shotgun style rod holders in front of me and used flush mount rod holders behind me for transporting extra pole and gaff. I know that the rack system is a much cleaner install but I would like to also have two rod holders up front trolling. Any guys (or gals) have recommendations for the side mount holders?

You could always go with the Scotty and the RAM mount holders, but I'm a bit reluctant to put so many holes in my PWC myself.

If you're not using the rear view mirrors, take those off and mount your rod holders there! I would get stainless steel ones those.
