It's been a while since I last posted and it's been too long since I was last out on the Doo!
With lobster and crab season now open, I am deciding to complement my fishing at The Channel Islands, with setting lobster and crab traps to see what type of success I can have off of the Seadoo!
Fishing reports show nice crab and lobster numbers from the charter boats!-I need me a piece of that action!
I'm going to Sport Chalet to pick up a few hoop traps as well as the nylon collapsible ones, if they have them in stock.
I plan on tailing a charter boat that I know goes out specifically for crab and lobster and drop my traps accordingly. I figure, I'll set the traps and let them do their thing for half an hour to an hour, while I fish some GPS'd locations, prior to returning. I am aware that lobsters are nocturnal feeders, but we all know that's not happening without running lights.
If anyone wants to join, I would be delighted. Full wetsuit highly advisable.
Below is a picture of my cousin's lobster catch last week on Friday. The crazy kid pulled these suckers from the breakwater over at Marina del Rey at MIDNIGHT on Friday..... SOB!

This pic is of my catch, the weekend before last over at The Channel Islands (Vermillon Rockfish....Good eating!)
