Can anyone give me a few ideas about what to look for in a wetsuit ? Brand names that are the best worst? What to expect to pay? New to this and I have never dived or owned any sort of wet suit before so really don't know what to look for. I fish out of boston so the water temps are pretty chilly (just hit 50 this week) and often time the air temps as well tend to be a little cooler than you guys that fish in sunny CA but I also want to have something that it doesn't take 2 people to get into and out of. Any ideas?

I'd say go to a scuba shop to check out their selection and perhaps try some on. I only wear a wetsuit top that's like a jacket and it's kept me fairly dry an warm. The best part is that it only cost $45!! It was used and the color is a little faded.

That is correct. Wet suit is designed to work wet and a dry suit is dry, literally. Not that you have to get a wet suit wet, but it does not repel water, it holds the water against you and it acts as an insulator. The dry suit is not an insulator, it just keeps to dry, the warmth and insulation is up to you, based on what you wear underneath it. hope that helps.

Ok that makes sense so do most of you guys use dry suits then? Sorry to ask such a basic question but i've never been on a ski before and didn't know what to expect as far as being wet/dry. The water and air temps get a little chilly up here on the east coast

In southern California, most wear wet suits if they wear any special clothing at all. Dry suits are better but MUCH more expensive.

I would start with a wetsuit. Get a size that will not be too tight. They are not hard to put on.
